Just used one for the first time in months today… 😫

  2. Been eating from cast iron for 50 years. Still here. My grandmother used cast iron her whole life and lived to 89. I cook my eggs on cast iron in the morning and that’s about it. Just don’t go crazy and cook everything all the time on cast iron.

  3. I think it helps if you have a nicely seasoned pan. In this way there is a barrier between the iron and your food.

  4. Stainless steel is 11% nickel – so many people are severely allergic to nickel they stopped making the rivets in jeans and costume jewelry with it. If u are allergic to something and keep injesting it doesn’t that cause an autoimmune response? There is one company that makes zero nickel stainless steel – they are in Japan – I’ve bought it on Amz….

Well if we are going this far, what about the nickel in stainless steel that also leaches into food. And nickel can be far greater concern to many than iron.

      Say what now??

Yes sub quality stainless steel can leach heavy metals…you have to make sure it’s 18/10 I believe. 360 Cookware is high quality SS, and I believe they test for just this, and don’t leach. I prefer SS to be honest…over ceramic and over cast iron. Although, be careful with high acidity foods (tomato sauce etc) in SS…these foods can more easily leach the heavy metals present in SS!

    • addictiveaussie

@watashiwamillo All SS leaches nickel. It doesn’t matter whether it is 18/10.
The only way to avoid it is to source SS cookware that omits nickel

  6. I would rather use an iron than non stick chemicals like teflon, ” ceramic” and the like.

  7. Retired bit Juggler

Due to an undiagnosed hereditary iron overload disease I became critically Ill back in the early 90’s that nearly killed me and most likely resulted in my mother passing at an early age. When I was finally correctly diagnosed I already had an serum ferritin level of 3200 and my oncologist hematologist was astonished that I was still walking under my own power. To get my levels down, I had to have a half liter of blood drawn twice a week for 18 months before my levels returned to normal and to this day I require periodic test and phlebotomies to keep it under control. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed way too late and that resulted in damage to my body (specifically my liver) that could have been avoided. I’ve had liver cancer twice in the past 4 years and required extensive surgeries as a result. I’m writing this as a warning to people doubting this — it is a real scenario that, unfortunately, I’ve passed down to two of my three children. Listen to Dr. Gundry and maybe have your iron levels checked if you are suffering from an extended unexplained illness. Oh, by the way, I was an avid blood donor prior to this and it was the blood bank that initially spotted a liver issue (6 years prior to being diagnosed correctly). Another great reason to donate blood to help others — it may just help you too! 😊

  8. Tea blocks iron iron absorption ( also milk does) but load you with F ( fluoride) that is neurotoxic and increase calcification of pineal gland.

  9. Just don’t cook anything or eat anything, oh and water is bad for you too !😆

    • yes! we’re all supposed to eat like cows or goats. Nothing but raw foods and I guess get water by magic or something 🙃😆

  10. After listening to your shows, I feel like I can’t eat anything! Everything is poisonous. 😢

  11. I use and love my cast iron cookware and will continue to use it. Every form of cookware has its drawbacks.

  12. What about enameled cast iron? Are you talking specifically about bare cast iron, or do you think the iron diffuses across the enamel coating?

  13. I’d like an honest answer to this question…Do you find that people who have large amounts of iron in their blood share a certain blood type? 10+ years ago I read a book that addressed the differences our blood types have even on the foods we eat to the kind of diseases each different blood type may have in the future. We are NOT all the same. In this book the foods suggested I should stay away from I already naturally didn’t like – and the suggested foods for my blood type would make me a bad candidate for being a vegetarian – so I get annoyed when people push that crap on me…Once again, we are NOT all the same biologically – what works great for friends has not worked great for me and visa versa. Could this be one of those instances?

  14. If the cast iron pan is properly seasoned, then doesn’t that cover and block down the iron?

  15. I really needed this video, thank you so much Dr. Gundry!!👍🏼

  16. thank you for wisdom sharing 🙏

  17. Wow, during the time when I was anemic, I was drinking black teas from Starbucks everyday. I finally got my blood checked, was low on iron. I took a ferro sequel and WOW, hello energy!

  18. I’ve been anemic and low iron my whole life, so I will keep cooking in my cast iron skillet. I do love these videos though, they are so educational.

  19. Is it just possible that lots of people are washing their cast-iron?
DON‘T wash cast-iron cookware. Keep it well seasoned and never let soap touch it! If you use a grill brick do not cook food on It until it gets a thorough seasoning first. A few drops of water sizzling on the surface and wiping it down with a paper towel is all the cleaning you need! Keep it lightly oiled with beef tallow or other healthy oil and you should be fine.

  20. I’ve come to realize after 67 years that Politicians are the cause of every evil damaging thing that we suffer.
